Busy - ness

"What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his very soul?"
MARK 8:36

Thoughts: We chase after so many different things. Only one thing is needful. Having a fist full of dollars, a great estate, and lots of prestige doesn't mean a whole lot if you've gone to your ultimate address without the Lord. Even worse is to find that in the middle of your busy-ness, you awake to find yourself in the barren land where Christ does not dwell and life is not found. Let's not lose our life, our soul, our meaning, chasing after what is not lasting.

Prayer: Father, help me to keep my priorities right, my life holy, and my heart open to your will rather than being blinded with my own self-seeking. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen.

~ Phil Ware

If the Devil can't make you bad...
...he'll make you busy.
~ Adrian Rogers

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
PSALM 46:10

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
1 KINGS 19:11,12

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
PSALM 107:29

And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
LUKE 8:24

Thanks for that reminder! How true it is that things on this earth and what the world deem as necessary is temporary!

Thanks Zac. It's very easy to get carried away during the summertime!

Great timing on this post! I was just talking to someone about this the other day. "Fist full of money" made me think of my own feelings abou money. It's easy to get caught up in save, save, save money, which isn't inherently a bad thing, but can be harmful if I keep my first closed too tightly.

This is so true! I think about this a lot... What is the purpose of life? The clothes I wear, the money I have, the real estate I might own (LOL... that'll be the day...), the entertainment I buy... What use is it to God? What does it matter when eternity is in the scope? Wow. Something to think on. Thanks for the challenge!
